The Sawyer County Patrol Division is comprised of eighteen full time Patrol Deputies; including three Sergeants, a Truancy Deputy, Recreation Deputy and K-9 Unit, and several part time Patrol Deputies. The Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office also has two investigators; a Criminal Investigator and a Narcotics Investigator. A Sawyer County Deputies primary responsibilities are to protect the lives and property of residents through the enforcement of laws and ordinances, investigate criminal activity and provide emergency assistance to individuals in need.
Some other responsibilities of both Patrol Deputies and Investigators are; develop and utilize informants to aid in making strong cases, whether narcotics cases or burglary, homicide, fraud or any other type of criminal case, obtain information and evidence with the purpose of determining whether a crime has been committed and who committed it, conduct interviews of victims and witnesses and interrogations of suspects and defendants, write and obtain search warrants, collect, protect and preserve physical evidence to insure admissibility of the evidence for court purposes, complete detailed and accurate reports and submit those reports to the District Attorney’s Office when necessary, provide court testimony, enforce traffic laws, investigate traffic crashes, etc.
The above information is not all encompassing of the duties of a Law Enforcement Officer as there are many aspects of the profession.

I WILL keep my private life unsullied as an example to all; maintain courageous calm in the face of danger, scorn, or ridicule; develop self-restraint; and be constantly mindful of the welfare of others.
